Inspiring the Oshwal Community

Sunday 2nd June marked an incredible day spent inspiring hundreds of wonderful members of the Oshwal Association of the UK with my healthy kitchen mantra - let food be your medicine and medicine your food (thank you Hippocrates!).

Over 3000 people attended the Oshwal Health & Care Awareness Fair; a mega event organised by the Oshwal Association of the UK

For the first of my two healthy cookery sessions, I demonstrated to a packed audience my Pani Puri Love Bites - a.m.a.z.i.n.g!!! and in the second session I demonstrated another of my unique dishes - Green Juice Super Salad!

Throughout the two demo's I entertained the audience with my insights and shared my passion for healthy food creations and knowledge on nutrition.

I reflected back with stories from my childhood and - of course - shared parts of my personal journey helping my mother to fight cancer using the power of food to help to extend her life further by over three years and improve her quality of life in the process.

Hats off to the organisers of this incredible event. When I arrived, the car park was already full, so was a little nervous to start with because there was so many people milling around visiting the stalls and interactive therapists.

I was looked after and made to feel very welcome which settled my nerves quickly and once on stage and sharing my passion to an audience of eager faces - I found myself in my element. Those who attended my two cookery demo's were very friendly, asking questions throughout and interacting with me.

Thank you to everyone who made the effort to come and see me, those who came to say hello and also to those who had to stand due my session being fully booked!

About the fair: The Oshwal Health & Care Awareness Fair was designed to promote awareness of health issues applying to both young and old and the care that is required to assist those individuals with particular health issues. In particular highlighting the challenges of family members and carers (in many cases this falls on the younger members) and careers in health & social care.

Key benefits for the attendees were:

  • Learning about particular health issues

  • Have diagnostic tests done

  • Obtain career development advice and information

  • Build contacts and network

  • Share and learn from experiences of others

  • Learn about healthy food choices (THATS ME!!)
